Is there a simple utility or something that allows you to use the keys with windows logon. The application wiki is full of stuff that for someone that just wants to use it for what it was advertised for - windows OTP login. Do I have to purchase some other software like "AuthLite".

If that's the case then I find the advertising misleading in that it boasts about it's capabilities - but yet doesn't supply the front end for the user.

Any ideas? The videos I've seen are very dated on this subject as well. Please help.

Doing windows logon correctly and securely is very complicated and requires sophisticated software, which is why you find partners writing solutions for this. My company makes AuthLite so of course I think it's the best way to do windows logon with the yubikey. The solutions are very reasonably priced for a single user, in fact, and I very much doubt you'll find a better value.

But! it's still possible to get some value for free if you like:
* Program one identity of the yubikey to a static password
* Use that as *part* of the password you enter into windows
* And enter the remainder of the password characters yourself

In this manner you get an inexpensive two factor solution, although it is not OTP-based it's still far stronger than any password you could remember in your head alone.

I have seen some laptops have readers embedded next to the trackpad, and Windows recognizes it so when logging in, it shows an icon like "swipe card" or something. I'm not sure if it is RFID, but if it is, can the RFID Yubikey be used for the purpose?
