I've written a yubikey emulator in C# targetting the .NET framework 3.0, and hope it may be helpful to people in the community who are programming their own yubikeys. The attached .zip file contains both the .exe and the source code.

If you encounter any bugs, please do let me know! (harold@talerian.com)

Hope this is useful!

Hi,

I've been playing around a bit with your emulator. It replicates the behaviour of a yubikey, but I can't seem to actually use it as a yubikey replacement, by registering it's keys on the Yubico server and then logging in with the OTP's generated.

For one, 'foreign' identities should always start with vv, therefor in your field Public Namespace Prefix you could have a checkbox for selecting follow Yubico Public Identity Guidelines effectively setting the last byte as f.

Then, the AES key for the upload should be 32 chars. Your's is 16. this may be my lack of understanding how to deal with this, but it makes it impossible for me to register my keys with Yubico. I doubt it would work with a 'roll-your-own' server ykkms.

It is interesting to actually make this work since that way you could have a softtoken on your pc, on a website, on a mobile phone, on an e-reader, Tablet PC or anywhere...

So Please continue the development into that direction and keep me (us?) posted...

Cheers

Willem Kossen

Because our sites are now accessible from smartphones we switched from Yubikeys to Swekeys.
There is no need to plug the Swekey in the smartphone to make it works, you just have to do a kind of pairing between the smartphone and the the swekey using a web interface then it magically works... Amazing!

Dear tester

Yubico supports free speech, even when it is saying something positive about our competitors.

We do not know what your association with Swekey is, so we won't call it advertising, but we do see your multiple posts as a campaign for Swekey.

We think it inappropriate to make such posts in our forum; however, we will let our customers decide as we believe in our products and the excellent value our customers benefit from.
