When attempting to set a static password for a 1.3.3 Yubikey using the Yubico Configuration Utility v.1.1.16 I get the message, "Yubikey is not inserted" with a header of YKConfigTest.

I haven't been able to troubleshoot the problem, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
(and yes, I've got the key inserted)

Location: Yubico base camp in Sweden - Now in Palo Alto
- Are you using some virtualization environment ?

- Which OS + SP are you using ?

- Can you verify that the Yubikey shows up in the device manager ?

No. Straight boot.

- Which OS + SP are you using ?
XP Pro - SP 2
on a docked laptop using a native laptop USB port (tried on all docked and native ports)

Under Compatible Ids...
USB\Class_03&SubClass_01&Prot_01
USB\Class_03&SubClass_01
USB\Class_03

Under Firmware Revision...
01.33

I'll be happy to post any additional troubleshooting info/logs which might help to troubleshoot.

We suspect that the "YubiKcom.dll" might not be registered properly.

We would appreciate if you can first remove the Yubico Personalization Tool completely, then restart your machine and then reinstall again.

Feel free to write back to us in case you face any problems.

Still no joy.
I uninstalled the SDK. Restarted the laptop. Installed the SDK from Setup_YubiKCom_1_3_16.msi using defaults.
Installation completed without error.

Confirmed key is active... jjlfggkujjctvvjntfiblvbjfbuhelfndbbliifincte

Started the personalization tool.
Clicked "Generate" Yubikey ID... 592539635922
Checked Create Static Password (no OTP).
Clicked "Update Settings" and received the same error as above.

Note:
I've also tried after removing my USB keyboard and mouse and confirming in the device manager that the only USB HID was the Yubikey.

We would appreciate if you can perform the below sequence of activities:

    1) Open the Command prompt (Start --> Run --> cmd)

    2) Go to the "Yubico Personalization directory\Bin" directory (For example : "D:\Program Files\Yubico\YubiKCom SDK\Bin") and run the the following command:

    Code:
    D:\Program Files\Yubico\YubiKCom SDK\Bin> regsvr32 YubiKcom.dll

    3) It should display the result as shown in the image below:

    Attachment:
    3.JPG

After registering the YubiKcom.dll, please test your personalization tool as mentioned below:

    1) Start the Yubico Personalization Tool. It will be displayed as follows:
    Attachment:
    1.JPG

    2) When YubiKey is inserted in one of the USB Slot, the YubiKey Status turn green and YubiKey Inserted Count increments to one as shown in image below:
    Attachment:
    2.JPG

When you insert your YubiKey, the "Yubikey Status" must turn to green, in order to reprogram the YubiKey.

If the error persists after above mentioned testing, we would appreciate if you can send us following more information as we are unable to recreate the problem you are facing in our test environment:

Your Computer hardware details including the model and manufacturer information for:

    a) Keyboard
    b) Mouse
    c) Processor
    d) Motherboard

Although the problem still exists on my main system, I was able to use my partner's laptop to reprogram the YK.

Thanks to Yubico and TrueCrypt, I now have a comfortably secure laptop system drive with a strong password comprised of a memorable personal password prefix and a long-n-strong static YK suffix. Kudos!

a) A Dell Y-UK-DELL1 USB keyboard, but this can be discounted as I've removed it to reduce the test factors - using only the built-in keyboard
b) A Logitech T-BB18 USB trackball, but this too has been excluded as I've tested with and without - using built-in track pointer
c) Intel Core Duo T2300 1666 MHz
d) Dell Latitude D620. Intel 945GM Express [Calistoga] (running Phoenix ROM BIOS 1.10 A10 for Dell)

Thanks again.
