Q: Why does the YubiKey use symmetric encryption? Why not public key cryptography or even PKI? A: Simplicity. Public key and associated infrastructures add complexity in key lifecycle management. Also, because in most applications, the service provider is a trusted partner, there is no need for third party verification. |
