When using the personalization tools, one of the options we can choose in the tool is to allow the YubiKey serial number to be seen in the USB descriptors for the device.

We at Map-Pin have an app which uses USB devices (generically) to secure Mac computers. There are lots of permutations on how this can be done, but a primary method for us is to verify the USB device by looking at it's serial number; We have literally hundreds of folks using YubiKeys in this way.

With the advent of the Neo, it seems like despite being programmed with the personalization tool to enable access tot he serial number via USB, there is a bug in the Neos that does not populate a valid USB serial number descriptor.

We (our customers) need to have this fixed.

We will re-introduce this in the next firmware release of the NEO, hope this will help you.

Yes we use this, also any update as to when this fix will be released?

It is in the newest firmware version of the NEO.

Be informed about the fact that this is not a secure fashion of solving the problem.
