OK, I entered static password: !OAkd;vz85!erkrFG

Why sometimes yubikey emits !OAkd;vz85!erkrFG and sometimes 1oakd;vz851erkrfg? :?

We would appreciate if you can provide us the following information:

    1) Download and install the YubiKey configuration utility from the link given below:

    http://www.yubico.com/developers/personalization/

Plug your YubiKey in the USB slot. Start the YubiKey configuration utility and click on "Next". Under "Testing the YubiKey" section, select "Check the YubiKey type and firmware version" and click on "Next". Here if you see that the YubiKey type and Firmware version are listed then the YubiKey is working fine. Please send us the YubiKey type and Firmware version information.

    2) Does the YubiKey emit the correct static password every time when used on other computers?

    3) In which application you are experiencing this behavior of the YubiKey

    4) The hardware information about your computers i.e. CPU, Keyboard make

    5) Keyboard layout configured in your Windows operating systems

This information will help us in debugging the problem you are facing.

1) I have 2 Yubikeys v2 with firmware 2.1.2, received few days ago.
2) Both of them emit static passwords in the same way.
3) problems when working with Remote Desktop (XP 32bit and Windows7) and in the windows 7 "change password" screen (in the username field !OAkd;vz85!erkrFG, but in the password field I think 1oakd;vz851erkrfg because every time was denied by password policy)

4) 1. CPU i7-940, keyboard Logitech UltraX Premium, Windows 7 Ent. 64bit
2. CPU Xeon E5520, keyboard Logitech UltraX Premium, Windows 7 Ent. 64bit
3. CPU AMD Opteron, keyboard Microsoft Digital Media, Windows XP SP3 32bit
5) English (US)- default, Lithuanian (Lithuania), Russian (US)
Windows 7: Display language: English
Input Language: English (US)
Format: Lithuanian
Location: Lithuania

Sorry for not having responded until now. I've now finally in person checked this issue out and have been able to reproduce it. I'll investigate this further and get back with a fix as soon as possible.

With the best regards,

A fix has been found. It appears like the remote desktop client requires an explicit "shift make" and "shift break" scan code to be sent.

Anyone who have problems with this issue, please send me an e-mail with your delivery address to jakob at yubico dot com and I'll send a free key with updated firmware. It may take up to two weeks from today until we run next moulding batch.

Thanks for reporting this issue and again, please excuse our slow response in this matter.

With the best regards,
JakobE
