I purchased a Yubikey to try and imporve my own personal security.
I don't understand how it works, I just want it to work :D
I imagined I just pressed the button and I logged in, but not so.
So excude my ignorance when I ask the follwing question.

When trying to add an openid to my plaxo account it asks for the following format
(e.g. http://username.myopenid.com)
I have tried all the possible combinations I can think of but I cannot get plaxo to accept the openid from yubico servers.

Thanks
Nilsson

Hi,

Just go to this page: http://openid.yubico.com/server.php

Press you yubikey and then you will get your OpenID URL that you copy/paste at plaxo or any other site you want to authenticate to.

I hope it helps :)

Best ragards,
Alex

http://openid.yubico.com/server.php/idp ... cebdtltuej

This is what the yubicom openid server generated.
How do I get this into plaxo?

Thanks
Nilsson

The OpenID URL you use for logging on to other sites are shown when you log in to http://openid.yubico.com/

It is normally something like:

http://openid.yubico.com/server.php/idp ... hgjhbctrgn

Use that URL to log in to any site that supports OpenID.

If you own a domain and want to use that domain as your OpenID URL, just add the magic OpenID HTML code.

For example, I own josefsson.org. If you load it and do "view source" you will see the two lines of code:

Code:
<link rel="openid.server" href="http://openid.yubico.com/server.php" />
<link rel="openid.delegate" href="http://openid.yubico.com/server.php/idpage?user=ekhgjhbctrgn" />

With this, I can login to any site that supports OpenID by typing 'josefsson.org'. I will need to authenticate using my yubikey, via our OpenID server.

I don't know what Plaxo is, but I reckon it supports OpenID the same way any other site does.

Have fun,
/Simon

You can use it as MashedLife.com, a personal single sign-on portal to almost every web site.

Hi everyone,

I did manage to use OpenID on the sourceforge.net page, but on the Plaxo OpenID it fails with the error:

Unable to verify the specified OpenID: signature mismatch.

This is when you try to register a new OpenID on your profile.

Regards,
Wouter

I quess the problem is that the simple Yubico OpenID provider puts our identity into the query string of your OpenID. Some consumers have problems with OpenID identities in the query string.

If you want to use OpenID and your Yubikey for Plaxo, you can do the following.

1. Create or configure a clavid OpenID account with either
1.1 If you don't have a clavid account yet, create one at https://www.clavid.com/yubikey/start
1.2 If you already have a claivd account, you can add your Yubikey in your Clavid profile https://www.clavid.com/portal/
2. Then you log-in to your plaxo account and add the claivd OpenID as an OpenID identity in your settings. The claivd openid looks like username.clavid.com
3. Then you can login using the OpenID username.clavid.com. On the clavid login page, you can choose 'YUBIKEY' as authentication type in the drop-down box.

Hope it helps. It worked for me.

PS: In addition, you can add multiple Yubikey's to your clavid OpenID account and use it with the same OpenID identity. Thus you could have a Yubikey at home and one at work if you wish so :D
