Post subject:  JavaCard / NFC / chip details

Hello Yubico,

Would it be possible for you to release some details on the JavaCard implementation inside the Yubikey Neo? What version of JavaCard does it implement? How much memory is available for applets? What chip is used (an Android phone identifies it as P5CD081 or P5CD041 from NXP)? Is the optional crypto library (as described on page 5 of the datasheet http://www.nxp.com/documents/short_data_sheet/P5CD016_021_041_51_CX081_FAM_SDS.pdf ) available (either directly or as a separate purchase)?

We have a very specific project in mind and would be happy to sign an NDA if needed (although I think the community would benefit from having these details available).

Thank you,
Razvan

Hi Razvan,

We're using a secure element which is more recent, featuring JCOP 2.4.2 R1, with maps to Javacard 3.0 and GlobalPlatform 2.1.1. The crypto libraries are all accessible through Javacard functions - some combinations are not there, so please let me know which one(s) you're looking for and I can let you know if that works. Like with most ICs in this domain, no extensive public data is available as it requires NDA.

There is about 70 kB of EEPROM available for applets and data.

Sure - please send an e-mail to me at jakob at yubico dot com and I'll make sure you get in connection with the right people to discuss your application.

All the best,

JakobE
