Post subject:  Yubikey VIP - expiration date?
Question for the Yubikey employees:

Does the Symantec VIP credential that is included with the Yubikey VIP product have an expiration date? If so, what is the approximate lifespan?

I only ask because some of the Symantec VIP soft tokens I've seen have a three year lifespan.

My gut feeling is that the expiration date only applies to software tokens, but it would be good to get confirmation.

Hello,

No they do not expire (at least to my knowledge) i have been using my VIP key for more then 2 years.

Thanks Tom. I did some searching across the Symantec site and ran into a couple of their PDFs which stated "Symantec VIP hardware tokens do not expire and can be used for the life of the battery, typically 5-8 years."

...which isn't a bona fide 100% guarantee...but strong enough of a statement to allay my fears. :)
