Post subject:  Multiple colors of the yubikeys ?

Hello !

I currently own two yubikeys, one with static password and the other still associated with the yubico's service, but I plan to buy more for other usages.

But as far as I know the yubikeys only come in black.
Would it be expensive to make them in different colors ? For now I'm using stickers, but it wears out rather fast, and it would be nicer in color anyway !

What do you think ? (you could make pack of 5 with five different colors for example)

I wonder if anyone has experimented with painting them, or what kind of paint would work well without interfering with the touch activation.

I have a bunch of yubikeys and some old model paint

Excellent idea selling a color pack! Yubico’s CEO has confirmed that she is planning to add more colors by summer timeframe. In the meantime Yubico will come up with colored stickers that are very resistant against being peeled off (using a special adhesive). If you would like some of the colored stickers please email support@yubico.com with your address and this note we will send the stickers as soon as they come in. Please allow for about 4 weeks from now for delivery.

We're currently actiing a bit like the Henry Ford and the model A - "You can get it in any color as long as it is black". We've made some trials with other colors but with the current design we cannot give a reproducable finish/consistency/quality with other colors than black.

We are working on a revolutionary new production methodology allowing custom color schemes for reasonably small volumes. We expect to have something to show in the coming quarter.

With the best regards,
