I downloaded the YubiKey Personalization today and it says my 2.2.4 Firmware version has an update available to 2.3. The 'Update..." button is bold. When I click on it, nothing that I can tell functions. I have tried as admin and regular user. (I run as a non privileged user) Does anyone have any idea why nothing happens ? Windows 8 Pro 64 bit. |

Hello bdmeyer, Yubikey's firmware cannot be upgraded; this restriction is to prevent possible hacking attempts. The update button that you see, is indeed working but its scope is to update the Yubikey settings, not the firmware. I this helped, Tom. |

I understand, thank-you. I think the announcement AND the tool could be better worded as both imply that the Yubikey is upgradeable. no big deal, but on the tool, where it says 'Update is available for Yubikey 2.3 and late' (No, it doesn't say later, it says late) Perhaps more specific wording could be used. I mean, When you see: Update is available with an Update button under it, what does that seem like to most people? It sounds like 'Click to Update to to 2.3' Anyway, it' isn't that big of a deal, but I installed software eon my computer and wasted the time clicking around and emailing the forum and now you, when it served no purpose other than to waste your ts and my time. The forum indicates I am not the only person to have this confusion. This means others who don't care to post are also confused. |

Hello again, We have addressed the uncertainty with the Update button as you suggested and it will be available in the next release. The 'late'(r) is probably specific to your platform the "r" is present in the label. Thank you, Tom. |
