I have two PCs on my desk. Rather than have two sets of keyboards, mice and monitors, I use Microsoft Remote Desktop to access one of them.

When I insert my Yubikey into the PC that I remote desktop to, I can't seem to get it to work.

An extra keyboard appears in Device Manager but when I put the cursor in a text field and press the Yubikey nothing happens.

I'm logging in as an administrator.

Is this expected behaviour? Does Yubikey not work on a PC which is accessed by Remote Desktop?

Many thanks for any enlightenment.

The Yubikey is detected as a standard Keyboard USB.
It should work, however I must admin you have a pretty unique setup so i dont have an answer.

Can you please try to login normally to the machine and use the Yubikey just to be sure that it is working as intended on that pc?

If it does, then i assume for some reasons, windows disables input from other USB keyboard while in remote desktop sessions.

Thanks. Your reply gave me the clue to solve it.

I used my Yubikey on the PC that I'm using to remote desktop from, not in the PC that I'm remote desktoping to. This passed the Yubikey keyboard emulation to the entry field OK.
