Post subject:  Windows 8.1 logon through my Yubikey Neo??

I'm wondering, would it be possible to include Windows 8.1 logon to my Yubikey Neo??
(so that when I log in into Windows, I need to verify my Yubikey... adding an extra layer of security)

- The reason why I want to do this, is because I run a company, and I have delicate info stored onto my laptop... and I can't afford to ever let that fall into the wrong hands.
If anyone know how to set up a Windows 8.1 logon verification, please tell me as detailed as possible how to achieve this. Thanks!

Hi,

sorry, that's not an answer to your question, it's more a hint you might find useful anyway.

Is that information stored encrypted? Otherwise everyone who gets hand on your laptop could get these information easily for example by demount the hdd from the device and add it to an other PC to access the drive.

I use Truecrypt 7.1a to get a encrypted file-container and to fully encrypt mobile devices like my Netbook, Notebook and some of my USB-sticks.

True Crypt is not considered secure you should not be using it anymore

TrueCrypt is no longer an active project for reasons that are unknown. The Code of TC has been analyzed not long ago and as far as I know the detected issues are not too serious at the moment and it's probably more secure than data that is only secured by a Windows-Login ;-)

However VeryCrypt is an alternative that is still an active project. I don't know if VeraCrypt can be used with a Yubikey too, but it would be nice. There are many more options for file encryption (GnuPG, PGP, ...) that might do the job too.
