Post subject:  [QUESTION] Yubikey Neo Mode explanation

So, i have a yubikey Standard since july, and i use it like this : Mode 1 - OTP : Mode 2- static password (for windows logon, Etc)

i have an hard time understanding if i could make the NEO work the same way with gmail functionnality on top has Mode 1 : OTP+ U2F Mode 2: Static password.

would it also work with NFC while mode 1 & 2 are loaded ?

Thank you.

What stops you from just enabling the U2F mode and using as-is?

i don't know, is U2F mode a functionality of the YubiKey OTP ?

is the u2f only a protocole update for the OTP functionnality or is it a completely different mode that will override the whole slot ?

that's what i don't get i fear that i coudn't be able to use both method with Gmail compatibility.

U2F support does not take up a slot. If the key supports U2F mode, and U2F mode is enabled, it shouldn't impact availability of slot 1 or 2 for one or two other credentials.

U2F is a new protocol supported since version 3.3.0 of the Yubikey NEO

You should use the Yubikey NEO manager version 1 or above to test if your NEO supports U2F.
