Posting this here in case it may be of help to anyone else as I wasn't able to locate this information elsewhere.
I am using the NEO with LastPass on an HTC ONE. I was having a great deal of difficulty getting the NEO to successfully transmit through NFC. Most of the time I was getting the tone that apparently indicates a failed NFC communication attempt (higher to lower tone or no vibration when volume set to vibrate only). Rarely I would get an "empty tag" read notification from the NFC component of Android. After much trial and error I found the following led to close to 100% successful NFC communication (and authentication with LastPass):
1. Hold the NEO between your forefinger and thumb with the NEO's "button" facing away from your palm
2. Make sure that the NEO is slightly inset between your thumb and finger - by about 1/4"
3. Place your thumb and forefinger against the back of the HTC One with the NEO parallel to the phone and the NEO's "button" directly over the camera lens.
4. When you do this the NEO will not be touching the phone - but be about 1/4" away from the phone.
Just placing the NEO directly against the back of the phone over the camera lens area mostly led to failed NFC communication attempts and sometimes nothing happening at all. Having the NEO further than about a 1/4" away also resulted in failures.
Also - to clear up some confusing older information that can be found in these forums or in other YUubico info - the current version of lastpass (3.0.23) does not require any special configuration using the personalization tool. You only need to configure LastPass to use the yubikey as described here:
