Can anyone explain how the Authenticator app stores the information to the NFC portion of the NEO? And also, is there a way to back it up to a second NEO?

Hello,

No there is no way to back them up (else all the advantages of using a hardware device would be lost :)
You can back up TOTP codes by saving/storing (in a safe?) the QR code or the security code displayed to you by the service provider during the enrollment procedure.

Not sure what do you mean with the first part of your question, if you are interested in the protocol you can review the source code in our github.com/yubico

That answered the question enough, since they can't be copied. I'll sift through the source code to see how they're written to and retrieved from the key. Thanks for the info :)
