Got my yubikey-neo in the mail. Tested one at https://www.yubico.com/start/. Went through a tutorial for KeePass2 and ended up locked out of my keepass database. Went through a tutorial for Windows Login and now I cannot get into my Windows 7 VM https://www.yubico.com/applications/com ... ows-login/ funny thing is that it worked when initially set up and now in the morning does not.

Foolish me I thought that this proprietary product would have MUCH simpler instructions for set up. My bad I did not snapshot my VM before set up so now I have to hunt down my backups from a few days ago. My keepass I am lucky I keep it backed up at another location so I will eventually forget about how close I came to ending all of my online adventures.

Tutorials really need tweaking. What a mess. This tutorial could use some tips on how to bullet proof the users windows install until yubikey is completely set up and working reliably. Such as, "make sure you create a password recovery file on a usb stick", or, "set up another administrator account" in case you get locked out. Or, maybe, if possible, "clone your windows account before starting set up?" Hey I've got an idea stop with the combined instructions for multiple os's in the documentation. Hey here's an idea COMMENTING enabled on tutorial pages so everyone is on the same damned page. Get a damned user group of newbies going so the set up frustrations can be viewed up close and personal and then maybe you'll have a product for the masses.

I'm pissed and I'm amazed. I run on Ubuntu linux desktop daily have my Windows 7 in a virtual machine, have a rooted Nexus 7 tablet, can set up a web server and database and yet I am stumped by the instructions for a supposedly simple "security key" that the founder sees being available everywhere someday. Yeah, available everywhere, though, only for computer science people only.

Want to have these available at every 7/11 I think there is going to need to be allot more work on smoothing out the install instructions for each OS.

Says on the package, "Start by visiting
yubico.com/yubikey-neo" AND leads to a damned marketing page? I already bought two keys. WTF?

I agree -- the documentation needs tweaking, but with a little aggravation, I have been able to figure out most things. Perhaps the tech writers could have someone unfamiliar with the product register and configure a key.

The site it says to go to is a marketing site, but with a little patience and exploration, scrolling down the page reveals a link to test the key. That registers it; however, that is not clear in the documentation.

I had trouble with the Windows login as well. If you lock yourself out of the account, at the Windows login screen, hold down the shift key and restart. That will take you to an option to restore your system to the point before you installed the Yubikey Windows tool.

Hope this helps! And I hope Yubico is reading!
