The class com.yubico.base.tools.Display
requires an AES key in addition to the token (which I assume is the OTP).
how do I obtain the AES key?
is that a property of the yubikey I am authenticating?

I haven't used yubico-j at all, but any decoding of the OTP requires the AES key that is unique to the Yubikey. Yubico has the keys. You can download a program from Yubico that will let you program your own key in. They are working on a way to securely distribute the built-in keys.

John is exactly right here. Contact support@yubico.com to learn your AES key if you don't want to re-program your yubikey.
