Is it expected behavior for a Nano to require removal from a USB slot and subsequent remounting in order for it to operate following a soft-boot? This is the circumstance I have observed with the NEO but not with a classic YubiKey. |

With soft boot, I assume this means rebooting without powering the computer off, i.e. performing "restart computer" command ? No, this is of course not an intended behavior. What firmware version is this ? What happens to the device after restart ? Is the LED on or off ? Is the behavior different if the computer is powered down and then booted, i.e. "cold boot" ? Any feedback here is appreciated. Thanks, Jakob E |

I, too, have this problem. Laptop is a Samsung RV511-A01US running Windows 7. USB is USB 2. Chipset is "Intel(R) 5 series/3400 Series Chipset family USB Enhanced Host Controller. Nano firmware is 2.4.3. I can definitely say it behaves this way on cold boot but will have to verify whether or not it happens on warm boot (via Windows start button - restart computer). The LED is not lit unless removed and reinserted. I'll try to verify whether or not it also happens on warm boot. EDIT: Verified it also happens on warm boot. Also before being reinserted Device Manager show it as an unrecognized device under the USB section. It reports that "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)" |

I can also confirm that my standard yubikey (firmware 2.4.2) behaves properly. Only my nano is affected of the two keys I have. |

Okay I have noticed that the Nano works fine when my laptop is plugged into its power supply. So it appears to be a laptop issue. Good to know... |

Possibly my last update: Okay the Nano behaves WHEN the laptop is plugged in AND charging. If the battery is charged while plugged in, it still misbehaves. Oh the little details... |

Oh the little details... 1. a. Does the laptop have any "always-on/charging" USB ports? Sometimes they are marked with yellow plastic inside or a different icon. If so, does the behavior differ when in one type of port vs. the other type? b. Same question with USB 2 vs. USB 3? 2. Are there any BIOS-level USB and/or power management settings that might have an impact? 3. Does the operating system have any power-management settings related to USB? Also, sometimes these can be set up differently for mains-powered vs. battery-powered operation. This could have an impact on the observed behavior. Though if it's only happening with one particular yubikey version, it is probably something that yubico should/could work around in future versions. |
