Does anyone have any recommendations on how to encode the Mifare classic 1k with a wiegrand format (facility code/card id) that can be read by an HID card reader? The backend access control system is Lenel. I can find some encoding software on the web but everyone wants upwards of $2000 to enable encoding a contactless card. Also, recommendations on a mifare USB encoder would be nice as well. This problem has been driving me crazy. |

The fourth slot in the PIV applet is for physical security credentials utilizing an x509 certificate and key. This slot does not prompt for pin when swiped, making it ideal for "swipe to open" type systems (and at least in my experience, it's usually the card + a pin entered after swiping). Not sure if that helps you.
