Post subject: | newbie question about static password |
Hi i would like to setup a static password on my yubikey but i will use it on a french keyboard (PC) and an US keyboard (mac) so i cant use capture. My static pass is like @dnC23+Chu8* after reading this forum i begin to realise that yubikey only accept a..z A...Z 0...9 and ! i would know if it is definitive ( its an hardware limitation) or if one day we can past a simple text in static password. maybe i m wrong if someone know how to do i m open. ps: sorry for my english i m french |

YubiKey provides an interesting feature called Scan code mode. You can use the "Scan code mode" feature available under the static YubiKey configuration of the YubiKey configuration utility to program the YubiKey 2.0 to emit your own password (of up to 16 characters in YubiKey 2.1.2 and up to 38 characters in YubiKey 2.2) containing alphanumeric characters. This means you can reprogram your YubiKey to emit a static password "@dnC23+Chu8*". However, please note that this mode may create incompatibilities if different national keyboard layouts are used as the mapping varies YubiKey Configuration Utility between countries. We hope this helps! |

Thamks for your reply Samir. I have noticed the scan mode but has you can read it on my first post i use multiple system platform and multiple keyboard layer so i cant use scan mode . the only thing i would know , if yubico team read this thx in advance, is if in static mode the restriction to a...z A...Z 0...9 ! characters is a hardware or software limitation. |
