Post subject: | Which driver for Yubikey NEO on Win7? |
My Windows laptop has had some USB issues that were solved by deleting a lot of old USB devices from device manager and adding them back. Now the classic Yubikeys work fine, but the Yubikey NEO trigger the Driver Software Installation dialog and is listed as "Yubikey NEO OTP+U2F". However, no driver is found. If I go to this device in device manager and force the driver to be "HID Keyboard", the result is that the device cannot be started. The LED keeps flashing three short blinks. How can I force the right drivers? The laptop is a Dell Latitude E6420. |

Hi, could you solve your issue? I have the same on one of my PCs (each one is Windows 7 x64). |

The YubiKey uses generic drivers already available in Windows: For the YubiKey Standard / Nano, and any device with an OTP mode (Edge, NEO, etc.): Keyboards > HID Keyboard Device (same as plugging in an external keyboard) For any U2F-enabled devices: Human Interface Devices > HID-compliant device For the YubiKey NEO and NEO-n smart card functionality: Smart card readers > Microsoft Usbccid Smartcard Reader (WUDF) Smart cards > Identity Device (NIST SP 800-73 [PIV]) The first step I usually recommend is to right-click on the entry in Device Manager and Uninstall, then use "Scan new hardware" to reload the drivers. I believe if it's not working at this point, it's most likely an issue with the USB Controller or Chipset drivers (if anyone has any contrary evidence, please contact me). You'll want to expand "Universal Serial Bus controllers" in Device Manager and uninstall all entries under it. Reboot, and then attempt to download and install the newest chipset and USB controller drivers available on your computer manufacturer's support website (sometimes, the drivers will load automatically when you reboot and this step won't need to be done). In a few rare cases, I've been contacted by users that were unable to get it working using all of these steps. In those cases, a fresh install of Windows solved the problem. If you are having trouble, please feel free to open a support ticket at yubi.co/support - I monitor this queue and typically respond quickly. I'll do my best to help.
