Ran the install, rebooted, all I get when I select a user is "Failed challenge-response"

Win7, x64, SP1.

Downloaded the installer, ran it, no errors, ran the tool, it asked if it should be enabled, I said yes, rebooted, and then the above happened.

I had to re-write my slot 2, think it was just a fluke.

Hello,

Great that you solved it, do you know what configuration you had in the key before rewriting it?

Hello i am suffering from exactly the same problem:

Win7, x64, SP1

I have tried 3 different USB ports, and ideas as to how to get it working?

Thanks

I just installed on my Dell Windows 7 64bit machine and am getting the same exact error.
I have tried:
1 - all the usb ports
2 - restarting
3 - running config "as administrator"

out of options, but would love to have this feature!

Same problem here... rewriting the slots with any configuration did not solve the problem.

Hello,

Is the failure you're receiving when clicking configure in the configuration tool?
Please make sure that you've used the YubiKey personalization tool to configure the key you're trying to use for hmac-sha1 challenge-response in slot 2. If you've already got that and the configure button still reports "challenge-response failed" I'd like to know more about the flags set on your YubiKey.

Hi,

So I seem to be having simliar problems myself.

I have opened up the Yubico Personalization Tool, opened the Challenge-Respone tab and first selected "Configuration Slot 2".

I am only programming one Yubikey, so I have left "Program Multiple Yubikeys" and below tickboxes blank.

I choose not to confgure protection for the Yubikey for the time being.

Under HMAC-SHA1 Parameters, I have chosen "Require user input", now I have tried both "Variable Input" & "Fixed 64 Byte Input" and then wrote configuration to Yubikey.

I still see "failed challenge-respone" when I press configure in the YubiKey Logon Administrator.

Any help would be apriciated.

Cheers

Culley

Hello,

The tricky thing is probably the "require user input" setting. When that is selected the YubiKey will flash briefly and require you to press the button when it does. This feature is not optimal for using with YubiKey Logon as the timing is a bit hard to get right. Obviously this can be improved in the software, but it will still require you to press the button twice for each login.
Please use variable input for YubiKey Logon, fixed input will not work correctly.

Thanks very much, configured like you suggested and worked first time. And works great when logging in.

Regards
