Hi!

I am using two yubikeys on different computers, until now only USB2 with Windows 7. Now I bought a Dell 3560 with Windows 8 an ran in a problem with my keys.
After connecting to one of the USB3 ports, the key is detected and shows up as a keyboard in Windows 8. The LED is lit.
When i touch the sensor, the LED turns off for a second or two and then lits again. The key does not type anything. When I repeat this for one or two times, the system completely freezes and must be switched off hard (hold power button).
The keys are standard Yubikeys, FW v2.3.3.
I tried a passive USB2 Hub between the key an the port, but it shows the same behaviour.
Any suggestions on this problems?

regards,
Chris

Hello,

We have some user who had win8 shipped without the right USB3 drivers. Usually the NEC drivers are the one to install.

Try installing the correct USB3 drivers for your laptop, reboot and try again.

Let us know.

Hi,

I found the problem which was an installed VMWare Workstation 9.0.2 Instance. The USB Arbitration Service causes massive problems with the yubikeys and other tokens that show themselves as HID devices, I could reproduce the problem on another Laptop with USB2 Ports.
Stopping the service "VMWare USB arbitration service" solved the problem.
Still not the best solution and it would be interesting to know what causes this problem, perhaps someone from development could take a look at this.

regards,
Chris
