Can I use multiple apps at once on my yubikey? I want to use both the openpgp and the piv apps for different reasons.. Is this possible? Will it interfere with a slot 1 and slot 2 configuration? I've not been able to find any clear documentation on this. |

So after getting ballsy, and a little experimentation, I found out that with the CCID mode enabled, you can use both PIV and PGP at the same time. I'm not sure how that affects anything else that might be in slot 2, but I know you can use those two apps at the same time. I *suspect* that you can even load another app into slot 2 without them overwriting each other, but I'm in no way certain about that, and am hesitant to try it, especially since I don't know how to get back the PIV and PGP access if, as I read elsewhere, they are in fact enabled on Slot 2, and enabling something else disables them. Any admins, Tom2 perhaps, willing to chime in on this? |

The Apps you can install on the NEO only are totally independent from the two "normal" yubikey slots. Basically, with the NEO you get a regular yubikey plus the apps, so you can use Slot1 and 2 for whatever you like and use all apps parallel. I use Slot 1/2 (well, the only thing I use slot 1 for is this forum...), OpenPGP (which is what I bought the NEO for), PIV, U2F and the Yubikey Authenticator app all parallel. The limitation to two slots is only for the OTP/ChallengeResponse/... password modes that also the regular YubiKey has. With the NEO Manager you can set what functions are available. OTP is the Slot 1/2 stuff, CCID is OpenPGP and PIV and U2F is, well, universal second factor. I have all of them enabled without problems. |
