OS: Windows 7 x64
1st Post here.. Funny because I had to fix it to create an account.
So plugged my key in to windows 7 not recognized/working. The YubiKey 4 Nano and it was just rapidly blinking, and that's about it. It would not function.
I heard the da doot (
happy windows sound) that it saw the device but nothing would work with it. So here is the fix/problem.
Problem: VMware installed a "Wired Keyboard 400" driver for the key. You can find it in (with the key inserted)
Control Panel --> Device Manager --> Open Tree "Universal Serial Bus controllers
Then Look "Wired Keyboard 400" if you see that you can verify it by going to Properties. You will see says VMWARE. Then remove the key and see it disappears.
Fix:
In Device Manager,
Right mouse click on "VMWARE wired 400" --> uninstall
Then can go to Action--> Scan for hardware changes (or re-insert the key)
Then it should see the Key, should see a tray notice where you can click on the balloon and see:
Disclaimer: Unsure at this point the impact to VMWare. Will post here if I find any. But now the key works.. I was not running any VMware VMs while this failed. Nor was the application open. Just installed on the system.
Installed Applications:
- VMware vSphere Client
- VMware Player
- VMware Workstation
- VMware vCenter Converter Standalone Client
Hope It helps..
