I have started using my Yubikey NEO more frequently, and I am always scared of leaving it behind somewhere.

The solution: an implantable Yubikey, with NFC capabilities (without USB of course). It would be something like this:

but of course, with Yubikey NEO functionality. Can you make such a thing?

I suspect it's not quite possible with the current (<-subtle pun there) technology: the amount of power that can be captured in the coil depends upon several factors, one of which is the areal cross-section/size of the coil used for the power & communication link. From what I have read, the implantable glass-ampule-sized chip/coil combinations have very tiny coils that aren't able to capture much power. For the needs of a simple chip with very little computational requirements, they do OK. However, for the chip in a Neo, significantly more power is required to do a single (or a series of) cryptographic computation(s). That's one reason the Neo-n doesn't support NFC.

I would hope it's something they've got in their future consideration pile, though. :)

Funny, I just saw this: http://motherboard.vice.com/read/biohac ... their-skin

I guess the current size factor for the NEO is quite ok compared to the monster these guys got implanted :)
