Yes - the NEO is made with a different type of plastic in an overall effort to improve the look and feel (not for cost reasons - the material is more expensive). Final decisions on this are not made, but we do believe the new plastic has some clear benefits compared with the one used in the standard Yubikey, although it is not quite as hard.

The plastic is still very tough compared with most commercial products - it will take a fair amount of violence to break it through the key chain hole.

But for sure - if you see any signs of wear-and-tear that is disturbing, please let us know.
