Hello again,

Unfortunately I am afraid you cannot achieve that with firmware 2.3.0, you will need to reprogram your Yubikey.

Tom.
Statistics: Posted by Tom — Fri Jan 04, 2013 2:23 pm

There's no confusion I was trying to find out WHY the cross platform configuration tool will not swap the configs
It won't swap a config written with the windows version - that's fine, not a probem
But the otp that came with the key won't swap either
I'd rather not have to wipe that, but I really want it as slot 2
Statistics: Posted by dloneranger — Fri Jan 04, 2013 2:20 pm

Hello,

So, there is a little confusion here.

You have a 2.3.0 Yubikey which does not have the flag set for updating the setting.

The windows configuration utility cannot do that for you. What you need, is the cross platform configuration tool.

You will need to reprogram you key, and then you will be able to swap correctly the configurations. Please use ONLY the cross platform configuration tool to manage your Yubikey.

I hope this helps.
Statistics: Posted by Tom — Fri Jan 04, 2013 2:06 pm

So......

Then I used the windows configuration utility to set one of the static passwords
(because I don't want it to send enter after the password)

Went back to the personalization tool, and now that slot gives the error again, and swapping doesn't work

Go back to the personalization tool and change the static password
And it can be updated and swapped again (but I get the enter sent as well - not ideal)

Hope that's of some help in a diagnosis
Statistics: Posted by dloneranger — Wed Jan 02, 2013 11:05 pm

Ok, it's weirder

I have another key that just has two static passwords on it (firmware 2.3.1, and no access codes)
Tried to swap that and had the same error ->'yubikey could not be configured. perhaps protected with configuration protection access code?'
Tried to update the settings, and both slots gave the same error

Used the personalization tool to set the static passwords to the same as they already were
Then I COULD update both slots, and swap them

That's not so useful with my other key that has the origional otp in the first slot though

Any ideas?
Statistics: Posted by dloneranger — Wed Jan 02, 2013 10:57 pm

I'm trying to swap the 2 slots but running into a problem (firmware 2.3.0)
slot 1 is the default yubico otp it came with
slot 2 is a static password

Using the personalization tool -> settings
Tick the box 'enable updating of yubikey configuration'
Click update to move to the next page
Click swap
->Error 'yubikey could not be configured. perhaps protected with configuration protection access code?'

No, I never put a code in, it's on 'yubikeys unprotected - keep it that way' and I've never changed it

So, try this
select configuration slot 2
click update
-> 'configuration successfully updated'
select configuration slot 1
click update
->Error 'yubikey could not be configured. perhaps protected with configuration protection access code?'

Hmmmmm
What's going on?
Is there a default access code for slot 1 that I have missed somewhere?
Statistics: Posted by dloneranger — Wed Jan 02, 2013 5:40 am
