Implmenting time based TOTP support in the YubiKey

We received recently a question over email where a customer was asking whether Yubico is planning to implement time based TOTP support in the YubiKey. For more information about time based TOTP, please refer to the link below:

The answer is...

TOTP would require a battery to be incorporated in the YubiKey (in order to maintain the time while the device is unplugged). Therefore, currently Yubico is not planning to support TOTP in the near future.
