8 Hz timer on Yubikey 2

We've got a few questions regarding the 8Hz timer on Yubikey 2.

a) The timer is now more accurate and will now stay within +/- 2% from 8 Hz. This makes time delta calculations more accurate and simple to perform.

b) If the Yubikey2 gets into USB suspend/hibernation, the usage counter will be incremented, just like if the Yubikey was unplugged. Yubikey1 utilizes a micropower timer that is very inaccurate that stays on during hibernation.

A second question is - are there different timers for config 1 and 2 ?

The answer is no - the timer is shared for both configurations. It probably goes without saying, but the counters are separate.

Regards,

JakobE
Hardware- and firmware guy @ Yubico
Statistics: Posted by Jakob — Thu Aug 06, 2009 10:13 pm
