Yubico fully recognizes the importance of a well working authentication service for our users and we are very sorry for the inconvenience this has caused.

The inaccessible validation service was caused by a network outage at our hosting provider of the primary network combined with an equipment failure to switch over to a backup network. This has now been resolved.

For clients fully relying on the Yubico Validation Service for their operations we are taking additional measures and will (in addition to our free validation service) soon be offering a service with redundant servers at separately located datacenters and have a SLA for guaranteed uptime. Additional information regarding this service will be announced when available through the Yubico news letter.

I noticed the website outage too, but the authentication server outage went on for some time after the website was back up.

Yep we saw the outage too...

Can we get an official response from Yubico please?

It would appear there was a fairly lengthy outage to the Yubico validation servers (plus, for a short time, their website).

Yubico - I'm sure I'm not the only one wondering what happened?

OK, whatever was going on with the YubiKey server has apparently been resolved, my YubiKey is working again.

My YubiKey will not authenticate at http://yubico.com/demo/one_factor.php, it returns "Login failure". I first noticed I could no longer use it for LastPass and went to the YubiKey test and it fails there too. It generates a login that appears to be normal but it's not accepted.

Edit: The static password in slot 2 that I have set is working normally, the YubiKey itself seems to be working normally. It just is not recognized by Yubico's authentication server, which LastPass uses.
