Sorry for the noise, I figured it out.
Turns out the default admin pin is "12345678" and not "123456789" like I thought. For some reason, when you run passwd to change it, it accepts "123456789" perfectly fine but doesn't actually change it, which is what threw me off.
Statistics: Posted by Ulrar — Wed Jan 03, 2018 3:29 pm

Hi,

I've created a ticket, but I'll post here aswell just in case it's faster.

I'm trying to configure a new yubikey, with gpg --card-edit I get :

Reader ...........: Yubico Yubikey 4 OTP U2F CCID 00 00
Application ID ...: <stuff>
Version ..........: 2.1
Manufacturer .....: Yubico
Serial number ....: <stuff>
Name of cardholder: [not set]
Language prefs ...: [not set]
Sex ..............: unspecified
URL of public key : [not set]
Login data .......: [not set]
Signature PIN ....: not forced
Key attributes ...: rsa2048 rsa2048 rsa2048
Max. PIN lengths .: 127 127 127
PIN retry counter : 3 0 3
Signature counter : 0
Signature key ....: [none]
Encryption key....: [none]
Authentication key: [none]
General key info..: [none]

(not sure what can or cannot be public in that).
Using admin then passwd, I can change the normal and admin PINs successfully. If I then try to use name, or lang for example to change card infos, it asks for my admin PIN, but always says bad pin :

gpg: error setting Name: Bad PIN

The PIN I'm typing is, of course, the same one I used when changing it. I also tried not to change it and use the default one, same thing.
I've reset the applet a bunch of times with https://www.yubico.com/support/knowledg ... t-yubikey/ to keep trying but whatever I try it still says bad pin.
What could I be doing wrong ? Thanks
Statistics: Posted by Ulrar — Wed Jan 03, 2018 2:51 pm
