You have to follow the instructions in this manual to enable U2F

It is linked to from the demo page but not immediately obvious if you just rush in and want to test your new shiny key

I have the same behavior with my Neo, no blinking light using the U2F demo page. Just to confirm, the Chrome extension is Fido U2F ver 0.8.68.2. I don't understand what you mean by "setting the CCID"? Could you kindly elaborate?

Just got my Neo, went to Chrome (Version 38.0.2125.111 m running in Windows 8.1) and installed the extension as requested on the Yubikey demo site.

Tried to log in to the U2F demo and I get the "Performing U2F action" popup which implies the device should be flashing and I should press it. The device isn't flashing and pressing it does nothing.

I've tried it as a HID in notepad and that works fine, I've used it in HID mode in this forum so it is definitely working as HID. I've used the Android demo and successfully logged in to see the breakfast maker so the NFC U2F is working.

What is wrong with the Chrome extension?
