The conclusion is that so far the API for Windows Phone was lacking support for many kinds of access, including SmartCards and raw.
After a Google search I found out that the API has been extended and that new devices with the PN547 NFC chipset now do support all of this.

However I'm not sure if the SmartCard system the YubiKey NEO uses is supported, as I can't get it to connect the way it does in examples...

I'm not sure if the list of types is complete on StackOverflow, but is there anybody that is able to confirm this, or otherwise provide a working sample?
My hopes are to have a Windows Phone version of the Android YubiOATH using a Lumia 930.
