The Yubikey LogOn (available here: http://www.yubico.com/wp-content/upload ... exe?119b56 ) works now on windows 8 with the local logon.
Windows 8 features 2 types of computer login, one with the Microsoft account (Default) and one with the local user.
To enable the local user login, open the metro interface and go on the user options. Select user and switch to the local account.
On a Windows 7 machine, a message will display that the Yubikey is not inserted.
On a Windows 8 there is no such a message therefore do not forget to use your Yubikey!
Always test it before with a guest account so you do not risk to lock yourself out of the machine!
