To validate the OTP with the online Yubico validation server, it must be 44 characters.

We would appreciate if you can try generating OTPs consecutively on a notepad and check if all the OTPs generated are 44 characeters. If the OTPs are not 44 characters, please send us the following information:

1) The firmware version of the YubiKey. To check the firmware version, please visit the following link:

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=85&p=804&hilit=yubikey+version#p804

2) Operating system details

3) Keyboard layout details
Statistics: Posted by network-marvels — Mon Aug 17, 2009 10:58 am

Hi,
I five shiny brandnew Yubikey 2.0's that have never seen the personalization tool.
I went to Lastpass in the hope that I can use my Yubikey, as advertised, to enhance my login security. Unfortunately, I began getting 'Your Yubikey Failed to Authenticate' messages.

I was directed to 'http://www.yubico.com/demo/one_factor.php' to test where I get:

Authentication Output
h=XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX=
t=2009-08-16T23:33:02Z0740
status=BACKEND_ERROR

'X''s substituted for real output. I get this error 80% of he time.

I don't know if this is a server error or some other issue, but this greatly, greatly worries me.
If I was absolutely depending upon this authentication for something critical, I would be SOL.
Perhaps the internet enabled OTP feature is not quite ready for primetime, mission-critical work unless you are prepared to run and maintain your own server.

Anyone have similar experiences? Or is this some kind of fluke?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Statistics: Posted by kvives123 — Mon Aug 17, 2009 12:47 am
