Linux Hibernation and logout on key removal

Hi, I'm new to using Yubikeys having just purchased a YBK4. I set it up to do chal-resp on a linux laptop. Works great with one exception.

when the laptop goes to sleep or the screen saver starts it won't let me log back in. I have to start a new session and log back into the same user.

also is there a way to lock the machine when the key is removed?
